Unknown to her, she was yet to tread a new path career wise after she lost her job. She was heart broken, she thought of getting another job since losing the previous one, but none was forthcoming, so she sought God's direction. She remembered when she was younger, she used to enjoy watching her aunt make people's hair, according to her, she gets fascinated by the different hairstyles made by her aunt in her hair dressing shop.
She discussed her thoughts with her husband, he agreed to support her all the way.She attended different seminars and workshops to kick start her new career. Now she has a beauty palor where people troop in to make their hair, do pedicure and manicure and also tie 'gele' (a traditional head tie for Nigerian women), she has about 12 apprentices and workers.
She explained that she gets better at her craft everyday, new methods are evolving, new equipments are being made in the proffession and she tries to keep up with the pace.
When she was asked what her advice for the upcoming ladies are, she said that first and foremost they should seek god's face concerning a career path and that they must develop passion for whatever they find themselves doing.
She shared her thoughts about women empowerment, she was of the opinion that every woman should be empowereď despite the fact that some might be maŕried to wealthy men who feel their wives should not be engaged in any kind of work.
She also streesed the need for very girl to get a formal education first even if she also want to have a vocation by the side, she went further to say that this was what made her unique in the way she operated her business.
Instead of being called a "hairdresser" a term popularly used by those in the profession, she chooses to be called "hair stylist." #EmpowerWomen, # BreakTheGlass
