No woman either from Cross River or Akwa Ibom State has occupied the exalted and glamorous office of First Lady in the two sister states or any other state in Nigeria since the onset of Democracy in May 1999!This has made them very bitter and agitated to the point that most say they may not give their votes to any governorship aspirants wishing to succeed governors Liyel Imoke and Godswill Akpabio of both states that don't have wives who, too, hail from the states.
This Non-governmental organization addresses issues relating to women and children (especially girls), the most vulnerable people. Concerns are dealt with as touching sustained livelihood for women and children. Matters regarding rape, child abuse, violence towards women and children, FGM - are set at top priority. 24 hour Help lines are available, seminars and workshops are organised and welfare programs are provided for women, children and widows.
